SARAH D’HANENS is a producer, editor and activist based in Brussels, New York and Greece. Among the award-winning documentaries she has been involved with are RaMell Ross’ 2019 Academy Awards® and Emmy® Awards nominated HALE COUNTY THIS MORNING, THIS EVENING and his IDA-nominated short EASTER SNAP; Yance Ford’s 2018 Academy Awards® nominated and Emmy® Awards winning STRONG ISLAND; Victor Kossakovsky’s 2020 Oscar® shortlisted AQUARELA; Göran Hugo Olsson’s THAT SUMMER; James Longley’s ANGELS ARE MADE OF LIGHT; Nicole Mackinlay Hahn’s BURKINA, PRINCESS YENNENGA; Eva Küpper’s WHAT’S IN A NAME and Tala Hadid’s forthcoming FOREST OF STONE. Among the feature films are Lucrecia Martel’s ZAMA; Deepak Rauniyar’s WHITE SUN and Hilal Baydarov’s IN BETWEEN DYING. She produced the award-winning animated shorts SPERMACETI by Jacky De Groen and FIGHTING PABLO by Robbe Vervaeke; and is currently developing Emily Lefebvre’s THE PALM BEACH HOTEL.
Sarah studied literature and archaeology at Ghent University and graduated from the School of Arts | University College Ghent with an MFA in Visual Arts / Media Art. She’s part of the Berlinale Talents alumni community and an active member of the European Animation Awards Association and the International Animated Film Society (ASIFA-Hollywood). She is a licensed Divemaster with a zealous passion for the conservation of our oceans and pro-actively supports local initiatives and global efforts that create positive change for a more inclusive, fair and sustainable world.
