Fernando Galrito

Fernando Galrito was born in Samora Correia (Portugal).
Took Cinema, Animation, Video and Theatre Director courses. He is graduated in Anthropology, has an MA in Culture, Communication and New Technologies and is currently working on his PhD | Animation, From the screen to the stage to the Gallery.
In 2000 he found and is the artistic director of the MONSTRA | Lisbon Animated Film Festival.
Teaches Animation and Artistic Interdisciplinary Project at the Superior School of Design and Art | ESAD.CR (Portugal) since 2000.
Present lectures on the subject of Moving Images; The Pedagogy of Animation and the relation between Animation, New Technologies and Other Arts in different national and international Universities and Arts Schools.
Is a guest teacher and conduct animation workshops in different universities in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.
Fernando Galrito direct animated films, documentaries and videos shown and primed at national and international festivals and televisions. Direct also transdisciplinary projects relating animation, theatre, dance and fine arts.
He coordinate the Moving Image Centre of the Gulbenkian Foundation from 1986 until 2005.
He’s also jury member of various international festivals. Collaborate with various magazines, radio and TV programs related to cinema and pedagogy. He is a member of national and international organisations for Animation Arts.
