Doris Cleven

Doris Cleven is the director of Anima, the Brussels Animation Film Festival which was founded in 1982. Since its creation, the festival has developed as an major international event, growing from 2000 spectators to 46 000 in 2018. Since 2000, the festival also includes professional days called Futuranima.
With the aim of promoting animation cinema, she has developed other activities such as the theatrical distribution of short and long animated films and the publication of video and DVD devoted to animation under the label “Foliovideo”.
She is writing specialized articles on animation for books, catalogues, newspapers and has contributed to the creation of a permanent exhibition on Belgian animation for the National Museum of Comic Strips. Since 2006, she gives courses on the history of animation cinema in two main Belgian Art Schools.
