15 independent producers Associations from 13 different countries within the European Union have founded ANIMATION in EUROPE, an international federation which will stand for the development of the animation industry in Europe and will defend the interests of the independent production and distribution companies.
The federation will aim at:
• Getting any network and any on-line video provider which target a European audience to invest into the production of original content in Europe.
• Securing the public financing available at the European, national and/or local levels for the production of animated films and series produced in Europe.
• Having a regular and constructive dialogue with the European authorities on the regulation and the financing of the animation industry.
The federation members meet every year Forum Cartoon, MIPCOM and MIPTV and at Annecy festival and is represented by a Chairman (Philippe Alessandri, France – Watch Next) and a vice-Chairman (Tom van Waveren, The Netherlands – Cake Entertainment) elected for two years.
